About Dave Abbotts
I was raised in a farming community near Buckingham, where my passion for shooting first took root. As a child, I spent much of my time exploring my friend’s farm with an air rifle. During my teenage years, I transitioned to shotguns, shooting alongside a local young farmer who would later become my brother-in-law. From my teens to my mid-forties, I focused primarily on game shooting, often in partnership with my brother-in-law on and around the farm, before being introduced to clay shooting in 2008.
For those active in competitive shooting, you may have encountered me as a referee at CPSA-registered shoots hosted by esteemed grounds such as Atkin Grant & Lang in Markyate, Sporting Targets in Risley, and EJ Churchill in High Wycombe.
Over the past 14 years, I have been privileged to coach at numerous corporate events, team-building activities, and stag and hen parties, with the majority of my work taking place at a shooting ground near Milton Keynes. My coaching places a strong emphasis on gun safety and shooting ground protocols, as well as game-shooting etiquette for individuals considering entering the sport. I guide participants through the fundamentals of shooting a shotgun and breaking basic targets, before progressing to more advanced and personalized techniques to tackle challenging targets. Additionally, I incorporate a strong focus on the mental aspects of shooting, helping participants develop confidence and a disciplined approach to the sport.
